Like Blood In The Water

I can recall a particular vacation from my youth. My family went to LA for Disneyland, but I can remember being ecstatic about the pool. For some reason, my brother and I wanted to make sure that we spent almost as much time in the pool as we did in the theme park. The first night we made it to the pool, we dove in. The water swallowed us and as it spat us back out, streams of pool water ran through our hair, down our respective faces and into our mouths.

A familiar taste sat in our mouths. It was slightly metallic, a little salty, maybe, and the water was warm. It tasted just like blood.
